Description

Winchester 572 Smokeless Gun Powder

Buy Winchester 572 Smokeless Gun Powder  Winchester Smokeless Powders have been around since the late 1800s. Customers that have shot Winchester factory loaded ammunition know that quality of propellant they’re receiving as soon as the first shot is fired. Bring that quality home to the reloading bench with the Winchester family of powders.

This Winchester 572 powder is strategically designed to do a myriad of jobs. First it has the correct burn rate to create the famous 3 ¼ dram equivalent, 1 ¼ oz, 1330 fps 12 gauge load, originated by Winchester. And, it does it with any brand case! Back Fence competitors and pheasant hunters will be delighted. Now, that is just one application, and it goes on to provide clay target loads superb in 20 gauge and 28 gauge, top field loads in both, and, outstanding field loads for the wonderful 16 gauge. In addition, 572 has a vast number of pistol applications, ranging from the 25 ACP to the 45 ACP, and all popular calibers in between. This is one positively versatile and useful propellant.

Other Important Information:

  • Do not exceed the loads displayed in the reloaders guide.
  • Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.
  • Never substitute any smokeless powder for Black Powder or any Black Powder substitute.

I picked up a 4lb container of this a few months ago. I’ve been quite pleased with its performance in the .45 ACP and .38 Super. Great metering clean ball type powder. Burn rate is in between two of my favorite powders. It’s a bit slower than Accurate #5 and a bit faster than Accurate #7. I’d sure appreciate seeing more data published for it.

I use this power to reload 20 ga shotgun shells. The power working fine no misfires.

So far I have used 2 lbs of 572 for 9mm with 147g coated & 147g JHP bullets. It is the slowest pistol powder I have used. Its about 50th from the top on a Hodgdon burn rate chart, nonetheless charge weights are still pretty small. It is primarily a shotgun powder so I didn’t expect it to be clean burning. Pleasant surprise — it burns cleaner than many traditional pistol powders. It also meters very consistently thru a Dillon 650. I haven’t tried it with other bullet weights or calibers but I am going to continue using it for 147g 9mm USPSA Minor PF loads.

    Works great and consistant.
