Hodgdon Pyrodex Select Black Hodgdon Pyrodex Select is an enhancement of our RS grade of Pyrodex. Using RS or 2F data in a volumetric measure, Select can significantly reduce group size. Wonderful news to the deer hunter is that Select performs well with sabots and conical bullets. Select has also become a favorite among many blackpowder cartridge shooters because of its exceptional consistency. For target use it is the “best of the best”.

- Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.
- Never substitute any smokeless powder for Black Powder or any Black Powder substitute.

I grew up shooting true black powder in all my side lock guns 20 years ago. As time passed, it has become more difficult and expensive to purchase true black powder so I began using Pyrodex. I have been impressed with the consistency, and reliability (not to mention the availability and price) of Pyrodex. Other powders tout the non-corrosive nature of their powders but I used this in my rifle on an out of state trip, fired the rifle and returned home seven days later without even attempting to clean it. No rust or corrosion of any kind was to be found. Great powder!

if you can tell me about ! a better Substitute cleaner powder ? better follow threw in action and best lube to have and from some one that has done black powder shooting for years ! not just once’s en a while and best cleaning solution to use.be sides taking apart and using soap and water and scrub brush to work it over and then oil it inside out. give me your way.if you can ?

It works great with my cap lock muzzleloader. I have been using this and Goex 2F Black Powder and both preform great with target shooting. I find the RS Select is a bit cleaner than the normal RS powder, and a lot cleaner than using the real stuff.

Tried this product after using pellet type powder and noticed better ignition s well as an increase in accuracy and less fouling of the barrel.

Used the Pyrodex pellets for years in my inline. I had stray shots all over, couldn’t get it dialed in. Tried this powder and it tightened up all my shots instantly. It was awesome to finally know it was the gun the whole time and not me! Highly recommend you try it.

Always used black powder in my tc renegade until this year.Decided to try something different and went to Pyrodex by Hodgon.Burned cleaner and less fouling in barrel that means more shooting and less cleaning.I’ll never ever go back to black powder !
