Hodgdon Pyrodex RS Black Powder Substitute 1 lb

Hodgdon Pyrodex RS Black . Hodgdon Pyrodex RS can be used in all calibers of percussion muzzleloading rifles and shotguns. It has a wide application of uses and is the most versatile powder in the Pyrodex line. Like all grades of Pyrodex, it burns cleaner and produces less fouling than blackpowder. RS compares to 2F blackpowder on a particle size basis.

Note:

  • Do not exceed the loads displayed in the reloaders guide.
  • Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.
  • Never substitute any smokeless powder for Black Powder or any Black Powder substitute.

It’s a improvement from Goex. We shoot 50 shots or so in a morning 10 target match . I have used this powder for years. So many guys moan and groan about how much better Goex is. So I bought some Goex, the excessive fouling was obvious right away. I shoot the Hornady Great Plains bullet and the R.E.A.L. bullet. After 10 shots I had a bullet get stuck halfway down the barrel from the Goex fouling . What a mess!! I had to set that rifle aside and grab another one. After the match, it took two of us to pound that bullet down so the gun could be cleared. You don’t have the fouling issues with Pyrodex RS. Pyrodex makes a mess too but nothing like Goex. I’m looking to sell my new jars of Go

Works great. Used in a .50 caliber Hawken reproduction. I like that it’s a 1 to 1 volume measure replacement. IMHO (your mileage may vary) I find cleanup quicker with this than regular black powder.

I just bought this for my 50 cal. Hawken and I like the results

I’m not recommending anyone try this! But with that said yesterday I shot 8 rounds in a rifle I nave not used in 20 years, I did clean and inspect it before I used it. I used 2 powder charges only then 8 rounds, not one misfire. This is a great product!

I use Hodgdon Pyrodex RS in my thunder mug, and it works great! Very loud boom and lots of smoke! I tried two other powder substitutes I found locally, neither will work in my mug. They have a different consistency and will not pack properly. All they did was emit a big fireball, no bang! I will be ordering more Pyrodex!

  6. Dougs

Worked great for my thunder mugs on the 4th. Very loud booms

I use it in my cap lock rifles. You can reload a lot without cleaning between shots. Makes plenty of smoke, for a black powder substitute. Just doesn’t build up fowling like black powder. I use real black powder, in my flintlock rifle. I just wipe the bore between shots. Use a vent pick and reload

  8. John

Better and cleaner than Black powder

  9. Jim

I put 50 patched round balls through my .50 caliber Traditions Kentucky Rifle without swabbing the bore even once. The last shot I loaded was no more difficult than the second one. Cleaned up easily, too.
